PVP
Even when engaging in PVP, try to be civil. Before resorting to mechanical combat, give the other player a chance to end the situation with just RP. Of course, this does not mean letting them walk away as they wish. For instance, tonight my Mhordul was asked to accompany some Vhalurian guards who wanted to arrest him. That situation could have ended without PVP if my character had agreed to go with them. In that case, the guards were blocking the entrance, so it was unreasonable for my character to run past them. I did not want to go with them, so I had to deal with PVP and its consequences.
So while it is good to give the other player an option, the player whose character is under duress and does not wish to engage in PVP also needs to compromise and agree to the other character's request if there is no other reasonable way to escape the situation.
POST-PVP
So you won a fight. You still got that adrenaline rush from the combat and now you want your opponent to suffer a bit for whatever he did to you. That is fine, of course, but it has some implications.
You cannot permanently kill or disfigure another character without the consent of that character's player. The only occasion in which you can kill a character by default is when you beat her in PVP and she ran out of Life Points.
You may arrest a character if you are a guard in your nation, but that should only be done if strictly necessary. Taking someone to jail can be terribly troublesome for the arresting party, and unfairly dull for the arrested party. On the one hand, one has to tend to the character who has been arrested, decide what will be done, etc. On the other hand, the character who is in jail cannot really play the game. So you should avoid arresting a character unless it is strictly necessary or if you are 100% sure you will be able to RP with them during most of their time in prison.
Other things can be done in a war scenario that are even more detrimental to your adversary, such as depriving them of their weapons and valuable possessions. Not to mention that the fact that you beat them in PVP alone should not be taken for granted. Losing a Life Point might not look like much at first, but at times you can end up losing as many as five in a single playing session. Keep that in mind and cut some slack to the person who just got their ass kicked.
RAIDS
Raids are massive attacks upon a certain settlement, during which combat and/or looting take place. They CANNOT be undertaken without giving the attacked nation a chance to defend itself. This is done by letting them know OOCly the date of the attack at least 1 day before it happens, and a 1-hour window of when said attack might happen on that particular date.
It is possible to declare a raid with a notice of fewer than 24 hours if the Town Leader of the raided place agrees to it.
Three possible raid locations are given when a raid is declared.
Please avoid to declare raids at the same time as other massive events. The Overseers will reserve the right to deny your request for a raid if they believe something of great importance is already happening.
Once a raid is declared, the characters of the place to be raided will be able to find out ICly that their city is going to get raided. They know the time window and the three possible locations, but nothing more than that.
For a raid to be declared, the raiding group needs to establish a sensible goal for it. For example: looting the treasury for resources, saving someone who is arrested, kidnapping someone, etc.
The Overseers will work with the party that is going to be raided in order to make the raid possible once it is accepted. For example, if the raiding party decides to raid a bank, the Overseers will place a container there with the loot that can be taken, so that the raiding party can steal it after gaining access to the treasury.
Avoid knocking out new characters who might not even be aware of what the hell is going on. Do not attack characters who do not wish to fight and are attempting to surrender. Do what you have to do, take what you want, then leave.
After a raid, it is interesting to write an RP story about it, so that players who did not partake in it can be made aware of its occurence. If said RP story has posts from both fighting parties, it is even better.

EDIT: Due to recent problems, we felt that the word "raid" needed to have its definition reconsidered. Anyone entering enemy territory with an intent to fight will classify as a raid. You can still go see your enemies if you wish to talk. But, if you do so, you must have absolutely no intention to fight and, if pressured to leave, you must oblige.

This is the area that should be respected raid-wise. If possible, stay even further away from it (like half or maybe an inch on the map here): PS: this is just a temporary thing I put together. It will likely be revised once I talk to Typhon and the other GMs about it.

Pretty much anything that involves attacking national guards constitutes a raid, so if you're doing it, stop..
Seriously, I've seen so much lameness lately that there's about to be a huge banhammer thrown around unless people start smartening up.

Do not under any circumstances kill a tamed/bonded merc or pet especially one right outside someone's house unless that player is present, and if you are an opposing race, a raid has been called.
If I see one more person killing guards (and mercs) for loot, I will push for a straight up banning, not warning. I have seen this one too many times.
