There are some other Mercenary systems out there, so I figured I should take the time to create a guide to ours, since it is 100% custom and certainly different from the others.
The first thing you need to know about mercenaries, whom you can easily recognize in-game by their titles, is that they can be hired by dropping copper, silver or gold coins upon them. The minimum amount of coins required to hire them equals to three times the amount they will charge you per in-game day, which results in a price that ranges from 15 to 135 copper pieces, depending on your Leadership skill and on whether or not you picked certain backgrounds upon creating that affect that value.
Once hired, mercenaries will work for you and obey you like regular followers for as long as they have enough copper to fund their work.
We have made commands such as "all follow" or "all kill" not be displayed when spoken, to avoid spamming the game screen, so do not fret if you fail to see them, because they are still working.
Additionally, mercenaries respond to the "report" keyword. So saying "all report" will cause all your mercenaries to attempt to switch from the weapon they are currently holding to another one you might have placed in their backpack. If they pick up a bow by doing that, they will be automatically changed to use the Archer AI, keeping their distance while they shoot. Upon switching back to a melee weapon via the "report" keyword, they will also change back to the Melee AI.
Other than that, you can customize your mercenaries equipment by simply dragging them on or pulling them from their paperdoll just as you would do to your own character. Should you wish to change their looks, you will need to find a Tailor player character who has taken the Hairstyling feat.
Finally, here are all the commands related to mercenaries:
.MercName - used to change one of your mercenary's name.
.MercTitle - used to change one of your mercenary's title.
.MercSay Hello, world! - forces one of your mercenaries to say "Hello, world!".
.MercEmote smiles to you - forces one of your mercenaries to emote "*smiles to you*".
.MercMount - forces one of your mercenaries to mount on an animal you control.
.MercDismount - forces one of your mercenaries to dismount.
.CheckLevel - used to check a mercenary's level, stats, skills, experience, current copper and the amount they are charging you per day.
