Every now and then, people ask something related to this, so I figured it would be good to write a guide about for quick help.

Two issues need to be addressed when installing more than one client:

i) To install the game without getting the installer to wipe your old installation.

The newer installers, such as the UOML installer that we use, search for installed clients before proceeding with the installation. If the installation of whatever other shard you play at is old, you can try to install UOML first and then see if the other installer allows you to install the game.

If that doesn't work or you don't want to risk going through that trouble only to find out it didn't work, one thing that always works is this:

- Install the game to a location, which we will call "c:\Location" to illustrate the example.

- Go to "c:\Location" and rename to something else, or move it to another place.

- Run the uninstaller. The program will remove the game's entries from the system's registry and you will be able to install again.

ii) Getting both installations to work

As far as I know, there is no way to do that without having a bit of work every time you want to switch to another client.

There are two ways to do this, but I will only explain the easy one. The hard is to change the entries in registry to point to where you want.

So this is what you do:

- After going through the steps mentioned above, you will have two installations, but only the newest one will work. Let's say that the newest and working one is "c:\NewUO" and the other is "c:\OldUO".

- The location "c:\NewUO" is where Windows expects your client to be, since it was where you installed last. So if you want to play your old installtion, rename "c:\NewUO" to something else, like "c:\TempUO".

- After that, rename your old installation to "c:\NewUO" and run the client.

That's it!

If using ML (Khaeros) and Renaissance, Ren should work (does for the DA shard) if you simply install Ren after ML. And of course, make sure they're installing to different locations.

I've actually got Samurai Empires and Mondains Legacy, I use the updated patch 6.0+ on Samurai Empires to play a Razor programmed Shard, and also i use..or will be using Khaero's patched client from Mondains Legacy to play them both...so there is a way to have 2 clients running if thats what you are talking about.

What I used to do was simply save the files I need into a folder first and then copy them into the uo folder when I wanted to play.

For instance I download new hues for shard a. I put them in a folder called shard a. I copy the original file into a backup folder (just in case) as well as a folder for shard b. Then when I want to play either I just copy the files I need into the uo folder and run the appropriate client for it.
