Overseers, in Khaeros, will henceforth have a more OOC-oriented role, due to the upcoming changes that will allow the playerbase to take the reins of Quest-Making and Nation-Leading, among other things. Due to which, Overseer will no longer be a Nation-Specific role. This decision was made as the old system for Overseers seemed unfair to different nations, as they would receive more or less help based solely on if a certain individual was active or not. Under this system, if someone needs help, and any Overseer is available, that person will receive help.
The job description is quite simple and is basically divided into three areas: Helping, Mediating and.. well, Overseeing.
Helping: Moving people who are stuck in-game, answering questions either via Pages, on IRC or on the Forums, reviewing applications on the Forums and accepting, denying, and creating accounts.
Mediating: Impartially solving conflicts among players In-Game, on IRC or on the Forums as best they can.
Overseeing: Making sure everyone is following the shard's rules, their race's lore and being civil on IRC and on the forums. As well as keeping an eye on players in-game to help suggest what players might be worthy of Multi-Classing or any other such bonuses awarded. Essentially being the eyes and ears of the Administrators.
Overseers may also be asked to, temporarily, play an authoritive character in a nation. Such as the Neferan, King, or Koen, as without these characters, it makes it difficult for players who wish to take on social positions, since there's no one there capable of granting them such a position, which obviously makes it hard for us to work towards fully player-ran nations. However, this is not to be considered the same as Overseeing a Nation, merely playing a temporary character to facilitate players who wish to fill positions. This will likely only be necessary until the map changes, which is when we wish to move fully to nations being entirely player-controlled.
Details of which Overseer will play who, or even if a character might be played by more than one person, as well as how that character should be played, will be discussed amongst the staff.
Overseers may be asked to take on additional tasks if proven to have a seperate skill such as scripting, mapping, website design, lore writing, xml editing, etc.. But such duties are not a part of the Overseer position by default.
We've updated the rules for staff a bit, You can find it
HERE.. The Staff page will be updated tomorrow, but the Overseers are as follows..
Jabberwock
Darian
Sithen
Kerensa
CynaraBefore bombarding them with demands, it would be snazzy if you gave'em a couple days to settle in and get set up fully.
Luckily we snagged 5 of them, so we don't have to worry about a lack of Overseers or hiring additional Overseers for a long.. long time.
