Mhordul Height & Build

Due to their traditions of removing children that are either mentally or physically handicapped in some way at birth, as well as the ritual suicides of any Mhordul who suffer permanent physical disabilities or disease, the Mhordul gene pool has become rather well-filtered over the ages.

The average Mhordul Height is 6’6", although that may vary by no more than 6 inches, taller or shorter, depending on the Individual. Due to their lifestyle and focus on the Hunt, as well as their meat-based diet, Mhordul also tend to be heavily muscled.

Tattooing & Piercing

The Majority of Adult Mhordul carry ritual tattoos which have a wide range and variety of symbols and meaning. Each stage of life, as well as remarkable accomplishments, important battles, marriages, children, and so on, tend to result in additions being made to the Mhordul’s collection of tattoos, or slight changes to the designs of tattoos they already wear. The tattooing is performed usually by a Medicine Man, and can be anywhere on the body, depending on what the individual wishes. Arms, legs, torso, face, neck, etc, are all viable locations. Tattoo colours are usually plain black, due to the common ingredients they use in making the dyes, although it is not uncommon to have other colours, such as deep reds or blues, if the proper ingredients are available, and the Medicine Man doing the work knows how to mix such dyes.

Some Mhordul also wear piercings, ranging from common ear piercings to more unusual styles. While it isn’t uncommon, it is not a standard of Mhordul society, as the ritualistic tattoos are. Needless to say, the more blatant and unusual styles of tattoos or peircings can make a lone Mhordul’s life even more troublesome, if attempting to exist amongst Outlanders.

Adornment & Fashion

The Mhordul often have some of their trophies from the Hunt used in the crafting of their clothing, armour, and equipment. It is not unusual to see a Mhordul Hunter carrying a shield decorated with the faces of human skulls, for example.

Many Mhordul also place a fair amount of importance on hair as a sign of power, although the focus on that is less important when it comes to facial hair. Thralls or slaves are often shaved bald to show they have no power. Most established Mhordul Warriors and Medicine Men grow their hair long, and often braid it in a variety of styles, using small decorative beads carved of bone, or wear any variety of odd hairstyles, from the distinctive mohawk to spiked hair. Such short haircuts, though, are usually only found on the younger Mhordul, or often on their craftsmen as well. However, simply leaving their hair uncut and undone is also common.

As for maintenance and hygiene, Mhordul are well aware of ticks, lice, and other such things, as well as the smells one gains when unclean, and thus tend to bathe in available rivers and streams whenever they find the opportunity.
