Rules for Staff

Requests

Requests by players must be posted by the player on the 'Requests & Suggestions' section of the Forums, along with the reason for the request. Each request will have to be Okayed by an Admin before being able to be fulfilled by an Overseer.

When a Request is posted, Overseers are to reply to it right away, even if just to let them know that their request has been seen and will be discussed by Staff.

When a decision has been made by staff concerning a request Overseers are to reply to the original post and let them know of the decision. If the request is accepted then you have to list the cost or conditions determined by the staff for the request being granted.

Favouritism

No Staff Member is to give anything to, or do anything for, any player that has not been earned through the proper channels, such as the Request Forum, or being Okayed by an Admin. It does not matter if your best friend or even a family member or spouse joins the shard as a player, they are not to receive any better treatment or opportunities than any other player.

Likewise, being biased to a player or group of players must also be avoided. At all times Overseers should do their jobs based only on the rules provided to them by the Admins, not based on their personal feelings towards a player, whether those feelings are positive or negative.

Items

No items are to be created by Overseers and handed out to players for any reason, unless granted as a legitimate request through the Request section of the Forums.

No items are to be tweaked by Overseers. For example, changing the settings on a sword to make it faster, do more damage, shoot lightning, etcetera.

As for Quest Items, there will be pre-made and scripted ’Legendary Artifact’ type items released into the world. Each such item has a history and story to it. There will be no random magical items created by GMs for their friend’s character to find.

If at some time a lesser item is required, it will be part of a Quest, Campaign, or Storyline and the item will be Okayed by the Admins before being put out into the world.

Player Accounts

Overseers are permitted to have one player account. Any Racial Leadership positions that might need to be Temporarily filled for some reason by an Overseer will be on their Player Account.

Player Accounts for Staff members may receive the same Donation-Style benefits as any other player's account. Staff will be granted a $20 dollar equivalency in Donation bonuses per month to spend as they wish as a form of payment for their services. Since it would be unfair to consider staff members on equal ground with the general playerbase when it comes to awarding the 2 monthly Multi-Classes, Staff will instead be able to "spend" $50 dollars (not including actual financial donations) of their saved up bonuses on acquiring a Multi-Class, if their Player Account has been active for the required 6 months.

You are never to alter your own player characters (this includes giving them items), or any other staff member’s player characters. Nor are you to have other staff members alter any of your player characters. The same applies to non-staff PCs. No PCs are to be altered at any time, for any reason. The only exception is when an Admin grants someone the ability to Multi-Class and makes the needed changes to the character to allow for that. Or when a Player donates to remake a character and an Admin does what's required for that process.

When on your player account, you are succeptable to all of the player rules. Break them and your PC Account will be punished even more severely than a normal player’s. Staff members are held to a much higher standard and, thus, are more strictly punished.

While it may be tempting to announce to the playerbase what PCs you play, it is not recommended. If you are found to be doing so to get players to follow your character because you are staff, you may lose the right to have a player account at all. However if they know, and your character gains no benefits from it, then it doesn't much matter.

Treatment of Players

Players are to be treated with Respect at all times. There are no exceptions. You can punish and even ban a player without verbally disrespecting them. The actions of our staff members reflect on the shard as a whole. Keep that in mind.

You are never to use your position or staff powers to "Force-RP" any player, ever. If someone does not want to take part in your quest, storyline, get involved with your RP, or what have you, that is their decision to make, not yours.

Quests & Events

Quests and Events will be discussed on the private staff forums before being enacted in game. This is both to make sure you can get any help you need with it from the rest of the staff, as well as to make sure what you are planning is alright by the Admins of the shard. However, since most temporary Quest Characters will be played by players, generally all an Overseer will have to do is keep an eye on them and assist them if necessary in their Quest or Storyline.

In the event that an Overseer taking a large role in a storyline becomes unavailable, his or her role will be filled by another staff member. We will not have quests going on for months and months simply because someone is not around to finish it. Nothing is worse than a quest that drags on far beyond where it should have ended.

All Roleplay is to be taken seriously by the Overseers. There will be no going around and force emoting people to fart, or Quests where a giant Barbara Streisand burninates thatch roof cottages. If you cannot take your position seriously, you will not have it at all.

Punishments Are As Follows

First Offence: A staff meeting will be held to discuss your actions and thoroughly re-explain the rules to you.

Second Offence: A second meeting will be hel, as above, and your staff account will be suspended for 7 days.

Third Offence: Your staff account will be permanently removed.
