Ivar Ajnarson, the current Koen of Tyris

A middle aged man of average height, but sturdy build, Ivar has greyness in his hair and beard, but his posture and movements indicate signs of the well-known long-lasting vigour of his clan. Although grim and thoughtful when left alone, he is cheerful and energetic in the presence of others, especially his kinsmen. Ivar was once very fond of displaying his might in front of his assembled house by performing feats of strength, but has not done so in years. Some say that, since his wife Merryl died, a large part of his life was taken away from him. Merryl Naryndotttir did not survive the birth of their second son, Jakten, who in a cruel stab of fate, died a few weeks after his mother. Since her death, Ivar has taken to a more active worship of Ohlm, and resents his Koen’s bond never to sail so long as he reigns over Tyris. The prophets say the old Koen’s eyes are tiring, but the proud son of Ajnar still refuses to give up archery to this day.

Thorkell Jorundson, Jarl of Tyris

Thorkell’s name is known throughout most of Khaeros and has risen in prominence within Tyris since the death of the Koen’s wife and his subsequent withdrawal from state affairs. A man who on outwards appearance has very few remarkable qualities, being of an average height and stature. In his late forties, Thorkell’s dark brown hair and beard is beginning to show the first few signs grey, but is kept immaculately neat. Thorkell does have a great deal of pride in his appearance which is also evident through his demeanour which is often perceived as arrogance. Indeed, Thorkell takes great pride in being able to trace his lineage back to Bodvar the Great himself. Whilst not being a kinsmen of the Koen, the Jarl still holds the Koen’s total trust in his abilities in running the state and maintaining diplomatic ties with the other nations, even leading the army should the need arise. However Thorkell’s main charge is to travel to the other nations with the elite jarlsgaard on any mission which the Koen wishes be conducted be that trade or a baelin. Despite Thorkell’s importance there are very few who would call him friend.

Arvid Ulfson, Huskarl of the Tyrean Army

Ulf is considered tall even by Tyrean standards, reaching the commanding height of 110 petrae with a build to make even the most fearsome adversary think twice before attacking him. It could be said that Ulf embodies the best characteristics of Tyrean warriors, with his muscular physique and long flowing blonde hair. Ulf is in his early thirties but although he is still some years from middle age he is a well tested and tried warrior which has oft been needed due to his position being under threat at home and abroad. The position of Huskarl is a highly prized one carrying an large amount of prestige, but Ulf’s position is often questioned as the clan he leads is amongst the smallest in Tyris. A pragmatist above all else, Ulf has a practical relationship with the gods but honours Athaelbas above all others. This is perhaps a reflection of his own character, prideful but quick to anger and irresistible as a coming storm yet has the highest level of devotion to the Koen, Jarl and the Tyrean people.

Thorunn Skuldson, Bjorn of the Tiddjägern

Thorunn, despite still being in his late twenties, has taken over as Bjorn of the clan after his father, Skuld Vaergson, died at the hands of the Insularii. His young age does not hinder him at all though, for as the Bjorn’s eldest son, he was raised for that position from the day he was born. Diplomacy, commerce, warfare, history, religion, seafaring and many other fields are no mystery to the young Tyrean warrior. Despite being of a small stature according to Tyrean standards, the fighting shape he is in, the state of his possessions and his person betray that he is a man of rigorous discipline. Upon the battlefield Thorunn is a fearsome sight to behold, charging his enemies in his black half-plate, wielding his massive hammer and many an enemy of Tyris has felt his blows to this day. But on the other hand he is a caring person who often puts the needs and well being of his people before his own, a trait that has been passed from Bjorn to Bjorn within the Tidehunters for generations and which is now woven in every member of the clan.
