Former Kings of Vhaluran
Gareth Caliborne: the first King and considered the Father of
Vhaluran, Gareth took a once pitiful nation and gave her a new birth
towards a more prominent future. From Knight to King, Gareth was
most notable for his transformation of Vhaluran’s military might
into
a more structured society. His death came to him on the battlefield
against a Tyrean force pushing towards Vhaluran, where he was
fatally hit by an arrow which pierced through his lung.
Gregor Caliborne: son of Gareth and Altheia Caliborne, he was
still
young when his father died, so it was not until the age of sixteen
that Gregor was given the throne. Not really notable for any major
changes to the Kingdom, he was, however, able to maintain the state in which
Gareth left it in his death.
Hadrian Caliborne: was the last Caliborne to grace the throne of
Vhaluran. Hadrian’s reign was tragically short lived. During
construction of Hadrian’s Keep, the castle in the centre of Vhaluran,
Hadrian was crushed by an unsupported stone wall, which was still
being renovated. With such an unexpected death, the throne went to
the First Knight, Darius Tremont.
Darius Tremont: Darius was a King the people of Vhaluran would
prefer to forget. The corruption of power was apparent with this
former First Knight. Darius used the Vhalurians for his own
personnal agenda, forcing obscene taxes on citizens and hiring
corrupt officials to help him get what he needed. Some of the gold
he took from the people was put towards additions to Hadrian’s Keep.
In the end, Darius got what he had coming and was violently
overthrown by his first Knight, Victor Corvinus.
Victor Corvinus: with Darius overthrown, Victor then became King. It
was not long before Victor had Darius’ additions to Hadrian’s Keep
destroyed and his armoury and possessions melted down. With this
material, Victor brought about Vhaluran’s first official currency.
For these reasons, Victor ended up rapidly improving Vhaluran’s trade stature.
Damon Corvinus: the next Corvinus to be King. Damon was most
remembered for bringing slavery to Vhaluran, as well as the
Cathedral of Elysia starting under his reign. His death, however, is
what he is oddly most remembered by, because of how unclear and
mysterious it was. Some whisper tales of Janos, the man who Damon sired, to
be the culprit, killing Damon once he returned from crushing Tyrean
invaders. However, none would ever publically accuse him.
Janos Corvinus: probably one of the most noted Kings in thus far
since Vhaluran’s birth, Janos gave other civilizations in the land a
new way to look at Vhalurians. A slow start as King, Janos mainly
focused on heavily improving Vhaluran’s military force. Not long
after, came about what is known today as the Janos Wars: the large
scale, and almost successful conflict against the other nations. It
was in the conclusion of this war that Janos was killed, during a
counter-attack by a resistance force.
Marcus Falcourt: coming to power when Vhaluran had all her enemies
at her doorstep, Marcus was the key person in negotiating and saving
Vhaluran from the forces which had been enraged by the late Janos’
conflict. As King, Marcus abolished slavery and worked hard on rebuilding not only most of
Vhaluran, but the relations with other nations throughout the land.
Marcus was also the father of the current King of Vhaluran, King
Richard Falcourt.
